Educational Consultation FAQs
What can I expect from an Educational consultation?
During this consult, Dr. Taylor can provide you with information about your work up, diagnosis, and treatment to-date, and educate you regarding available research regarding treatment approaches. Dr. Taylor cannot order labs or imaging, diagnose your condition, prescribe particular treatments, or in other ways act as your physician via these consults. These consults should be considered educational in nature only, and do no substitute for proper medical care. Anything discussed during these consults should first be reviewed by your medical team and implemented only if deemed safe and appropriate.
Can Dr. Taylor be my doctor?
Given the limitations of Dr. Taylor’s license, she cannot be your physician if you do not reside in California, Oregon, or Washington state. If you are scheduling online consultations with Dr. Taylor please keep in mind, she is not your doctor and therefore will not: write prescriptions, order labs, diagnose, write doctor’s notes/letters to 3rd parties, etc. This service is not billable to your health insurance.
If you DO live in Washington or Oregon state and want to be Dr. Taylor’s patient, please contact her clinical practice, Neighborhood Naturopathic, to discuss options for establishing care.
How do I schedule and pay for the consult?
All scheduling and payment is done online by you and directly through ChARM - an online schedule and health records system. If you do not have an account with us, you will need to set one up before scheduling yourself. Consults are paid for at the time of scheduling. Schedule here.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my consultation?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact us at admin@megantaylornd.com. Please note, we have a 48 hour cancellation policy. All distance consultations be rescheduled or cancelled within 48 hours before your visit. A $50 fee will be retained if cancellations or rescheduling requests are requested within 48 hours of your appointment time. No refund will be offered individuals who do not attend their scheduled appointment, or attempt to cancel beforehand. Please let us know if you have extenuating circumstances resulting in late cancellations or if you are not able to make your appointment - we understand that life happens.
How much do online online Consultations cost?
Distance consultations cannot be billed to Insurance or HSA/FSA accounts, as these are not medical services. While we cannot provide a superbill, you can request an invoice. All consultations are paid for upon scheduling.

30 min / $150
60 min / $300
Should I get my SIBO breath test done and results in before scheduling with Dr. Taylor?
If you feel as though you may have SIBO, consider requesting a lactulose breath test - a 3 hour test that measures both hydrogen and methane gas - from your healthcare provider. This test requires a prescription, so it must be requested from a licensed medical provider. For those who do not have access to in-person testing, you can complete a mail order test. See this page for companies that offer this testing.
How long of a visit should I schedule?
Consultations are offered in 15 , 30 and 60 minute increments only. If you are a return client and have 1-2 quick questions a 15-minute visit should suffice. However, if you are new to seeing Dr. Taylor, would like to discuss your case history with Dr. Taylor in detail, or have a lengthy health history that you like to review during the visit, we encourage you to reserve 60 minutes. Please note that 15 minute consultations are no longer available for new clients.
Will Dr. Taylor review my records prior to visits?
When scheduling a consult, you are reserving Dr. Taylor’s time during that consult only. While she strives to be prepared for your consult, she cannot guarantee that she will be able to review extensive medical records prior to your scheduled time. You are responsible for uploading any records that you would like to have reviewed during the consult via the ChARM portal.
How can I share records or get notes from the consult?
Dr. Taylor uses the online platform, ChARM, to share information from your consult. You can also share records with Dr. Taylor via this client portal. You will receive an email invite to this portal several days prior to your visit and can upload records at that time. Remember to upload into the DOCUMENTS portion of the records system and follow links to “SHARE” with Dr. Taylor.
Can I contact Dr. Taylor between visits for additional guidance or urgent questions or concerns?
As Dr. Taylor is not your physician, she cannot guarantee availability between visits to address any questions or concerns. If you are experiencing an urgent need, please contact your medical provider or go to urgent care. You are welcome to ask clarifying questions via the Charm Portal regarding information provided at your consult, however any extensive or new questions will require you to schedule an additional consult. We suggest you schedule recurring consults in advance if you feel as though you may have additional questions, as Dr. Taylor’s schedule can fill up quickly.
